Put the phone down, the issue of distracted driving comes to light following fatal crash

Distracted driving month in Northern BC is less than a week old and motorists have already made some fatal mistakes behind the wheel.

Just before 5 pm on Sunday, the North District RCMP responded to a fatal crash on Highway 97 near Taylor.

According to police, a northbound pickup truck crossed the centre into the path of a semi and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 29-year old Grande Prairie man has been identified as the deceased.

Police believe distracted driving played a role in the crash.
