Cameron Thun steps up for Prince George Salvation Army

After having 12 homes in the past ten years, the Salvation Army has finally found a single permanent home in Prince George.

Cameron Thun, who owns a handful of liquor stores and pubs in PG, made a $40,000 donation today towards the new property;

“I feel that the Salvation Army is a good vehicle to help the people. Two things our family likes to focus on are education and making the world a better place. I think the Salvation Army under one roof being able to service everyone’s needs is a fantastic thing. They reached out and asked if we could help a bit and I felt that we could”

The Salvation Army’s Captain Neil Wilkinson says the challenges of having multiple locations are soon over;

“The Salvation Army had services spread out across the city, and it makes it very difficult for those who are financially challenged to access our services. Now it is one stop shopping; one location for the thrift store, one for the food bank, one for donations. It’s wonderful for the community”

The new food bank now has 2500 square feet of storage compared to the previous 800.

The new thrift store at 3500 18th Ave should be up and running early next year.
