A Fort St John to Vancouver flight makes an unexpected stop in Prince George

An emergency landing took place this morning at The Prince George YXS Airport.

It occurred just after 6 AM during Westjet Flight 3205 from Fort St. John to Vancouver.

Westjet has provided the following statement on the incident.

We can confirm that WestJet Encore 3205 between Fort St. John and Vancouver diverted to Prince George this morning after a fire detection warning light went off on the flight deck. The crew declared an emergency to establish priority landing and the presence of emergency vehicles and the flight landed normally a short while later. All guests, crew, and baggage have been offloaded for a preliminary inspection which indicates at this time that no fire was present.

We appreciate and recognize that this would be an unpleasant experience for all involved and we apologize to our guests for the inconvenience. We are in the process of arranging for aircraft from Calgary to retrieve our guests and expect everyone will be on their way this morning.
