Council approved the budget with no real bumps in the road earlier this week.
The tax jumped up 1.87 per cent, thanks to the proposed 1.5 per cent increase and the requested enhancements.
Mayor Lyn Hall says it’s important to keep the increase below the consumer index.
“We knew full well that we had some expenditures that we really needed to have approved within the budget. So, it was a bit of a juggling act, but at the end of the night I’m very pleased with the tax increase. Nobody likes tax increases, but given where we are with mounting cost from our end and having to try and work towards making sure we continue to provide the services people expect in the community.”
Lyn added it was important for them to keep the tax around the consumer price index.
