A 57-year-old Cariboo man is dead following Wednesday’s fatal accident on Highway 97 about 20 kilometres north of Lac La Hache.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene and his identity has not been released.
Corporal Brian Lamb says a 16-year old passenger received minor injuries and was taken to 100 Mile House Hospital, but has since been released.
RCMP say a southbound loaded logging truck was passing another semi-truck in the fast lane when the trailers made contact resulting in the logging truck trailer to jackknife into the northbound lane when it collided with the man’s vehicle.
He says the road was plowed at the time but it was compact, slippery, and blowing snow was reducing visibility.
The crash closed Highway 97 for a few hours.
