Andrew Wilkinson believes he could be a voice for the north

Liberal Leadership candidate Andrew Wilkinson was in Prince George today for his 3rd tour of Northern BC.

This was a final chance for northerners to speak with a candidate before a new leader is elected in February .

Wilkinson says the reason he came around again was because he wants to make sure he can be a voice for people in the north if he is elected leader.

“Nine stops in 48 hours to give these presentations, hear from people face-to-face, that’s my job it’s very important to hear from people directly in the north because issues in the north are different from what they are in the south.”

Over 50 people attended the event held in the Orchid Room at the Super 8 motel, where they could bring up topics they had concerns over.

One thing Wilkinson noticed from his tour is that people in the north are vocal about services not being available to them.

“Medical care is a chronic concern that comes to mind, education is an ongoing concern that gets dealt with, and also major projects. People are very concerned the government not right off the idea of LNG, because it needs to be encouraged because it is a huge source of capital investment in northern British Columbia.”

Wilkinson made a stop in Quesnel earlier today and Vanderhoof a day prior, he will now be returning to the Lower Main Land to finish off his tour.
