Operation Red Nose numbers follow downward trend

Operation Red Nose had a busy New Year’s as 87 volunteers and 24 volunteer road teams delivered 166 rides home in Prince George.

In total, 838 rides were delivered in the city this year.

This is down slightly from last year’s total of 872 rides, and down significantly from 2015 when there were 1,059 rides delivered.

“Our amazing volunteers did their best. We apologize to those we did not get to or had to turn away since they were outside city limits simply because we did not have enough teams available,” explains spokesperson Andrea Johnson.

“We are though pretty happy with how the overall season unfolded and youth and amateur sport groups in Prince George will benefit from our clients’ generosity through their donations.”

Prince George is one of 11 BC communities, and one of 100 Canadian communities, using Operation Red Nose.

Nationally, 51,261 volunteers delivered 71,430 rides home in 2017.
