The Prince George Community Foundation was in the spirit of giving back last night.
A showcasing event was held at Hubspace in downtown PG, where organizations presented the work they’ve done for the community, thanks to the foundation.
Every fiscal year approximately $300,000 is handed out by the foundation, and last night saw a donation of just under $100,000 to 20 different groups in grants and endowment funds.

Executive Director of the Foundation, Cindy Storozinski says the fund originations receive help support the work they’re trying to accomplish.
“We hear that all the time, continuously I hear that people have started with something small and it just grows and grows. So we are excited to be able to provide that support to get these initiatives off the ground.”
The foundation supports a range of projects dedicated to help improve the community that follow certain characteristics; like enhancing the physical, mental or emotional health and wellbeing of people, and strengthens the social, cultural and environmental structure of the community by giving back from the donations they receive.
“I think Prince George is a wonderful community when it comes to working together” said Storozinski. “We’re very collaborative, we are very helpful to one another. I think we are all trying to help each other to create a community that we all want to be apart of. And I think that’s what community foundation and all these wonderful organizations provide.
Since the foundation started back in 1995, $1.5 million has been given back to 145 different community groups through funding.
