The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign continues to roll on in Prince George.
Through December 2nd, the kettles have raised $83,685.08 with an added $3,377.41 from the Heroes for Hope Breakfast for a grand total of $87,062.49.
The Heroes for Hope Breakfast comes in lieu of the Tree of Lights.
“This year with us taking a year of reflection for the Tree of Lights, we wanted to have the opportunity for businesses and corporations to make challenges to other businesses and I think it turned out to be a great success,” explains Business Manager Bill Glasgow.
“Whether we do it again next year will be completely dependent on the outcome of our year of reflection on the Tree of Lights and how we decide to move forward with that campaign next year.”

The current total is only $1,000 off last year’s pace, a feat even more impressive because of the summer wildfires, according to Glasgow.
“This is a community that I love to be in especially at Christmas time and in times of distress like we saw with the wildfires,” Glasgow says.
“It’s where everybody comes together and helps out, puts their own self last, and does whatever they can to help out those in need.”
The total goal of the campaign is $250,000.
It runs until December 23rd.
