UNBC’s Northern Sport Centre is continuing its annual tradition of teaming with local businesses to donate groceries to charity.
Each business contributed $500 worth of groceries for a grand total of $3,000.
This comes at a time where there’s a bit of a lull in donations being made, with the Salvation Army feeling the brunt of it.
Northern Sport Centre Manager, Craig Langille, says he’s not surprised to see the support.
“This community’s a giving community and I know there is probably some exhaustion from the group lodging and the wildfires and stuff,” Langille explains.
“But during the holidays and Christmas and heading into the new year, it’s very important for students and the homeless community as well.”
The food will be split between the UNBC Food Bank and the Saint Vincent de Paul society.
