Prince George’s downtown getting lit

Downtown PG is looking to brighten the area with new lighting decor.

The project is starting with string lighting on 3rd Avenue and George Street as part of phase one.

This phase is expected to be completed by early next week.

“Future phases may not look exactly the same,” says Downtown PG Executive Director, Colleen Von Mook.

“As we tackle each street we will have to design it to suit how those streets’ infrastructure is laid out.”

There is no timeline on when the other phases will be completed.

“For us, the timeline all depends on our funding and just in terms of how we can determine the feasibility and the design of how the decor will work in each area of our downtown.”

Von Mook says this is a project Downtown PG has been looking at for awhile and is excited to have it underway.
