The Prince George RCMP are teaming with ICBC to help secure your older vehicle over the holidays.
Steering wheel locks will be given out throughout December to anyone driving a vehicle without an anti-theft system.
The detachment’s crime prevention unit will be offering the locks to anyone who shows their insurance papers as proof their vehicle is an older model with no anti-theft system.
Community Policing Coordinator Linda Parker says they will be favouring specific vehicles.
“Older model Fords, GMCs, Chevrolets, and Dodge pickup trucks are a target for theft in our community, so we want to address that.”
This is the first year for the initiative.
