A prestigious award has been given out to twenty-four provincial corrections and youth justice staff, two of them work in the Prince George area.
Cory Mann worked as an auxiliary security officer at Prince George Youth Custody service for 27 years and is now the acting director of programs.
Since 1994, Jason Fanshaw has been working in Youth Probation and has been the Regional Supervisor for a year now.
Both were awarded with the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal by Lieutenant-Governor of BC Judith Guichon at a ceremony at the Government House yesterday.
“These annual awards recognize professionals who do so much behind the scenes to make out communities safer. Those who have served with distinction for decades demonstrate discipline , compassion and a commitment to fostering changed behaviours among offenders. for this they deserve our sincere thanks.” The Minister of Public Safety and solicitor General Mike Farnworth said in a statement.
The Corrections Exemplary Service Medal is awarded to those who work in probation offices and correctional centres, and in Ministry of children and Family Development youth justice services.
