You’ve probably noticed campaign signs around the city and you’re only going to see more.
Tuesday is the first day for municipal signage as well as also the first day of the nomination period for candidates.
Communications Manager Don Main with Elections BC says all candidates, third-party sponsors, electoral and campaign organizations must file disclosure statements within 90 days of voting night – November 15th.
He says there will be some changes this year with how campaigns are advertised, requiring third-party sponsors and promoters to register with Elections BC.
Main says, “Media can not actually publish any advertising on general voting day.”
He points anyone interested in knowing more to Elections.bc.ca.
“We have guides and resources for all of the participants and school trustees have to do the same thing, trustees are required to fill out the same disclosure statements, as well,” Main says.
