Every year, the Adey family donates money and equipment to the College of New Caledonia in honour of Dillon Adey, who died in a motorcycle collision on June 1st, 2009.
“Dillon touched a lot of people I didn’t know he had touched until after he passed away,” says his father, Perry.
“It’s a good feeling to help out the community and leave a legacy in his name, all of this college.”
This year the family placed a plaque in Dillon’s memory on the drawer where micropipettes are kept in the biology lab.
Micropipettes are the big donation for this year, also being donated is an advanced catheter trainer, a photo lighting kit, a rowing machine, a cavitation select/coltolux curing light, as well as a timer, scale, ruler and spatula for the Professional Cooking Apprenticeship program with money received from CNC’s online fundraiser.
“We’ve bought for anything from the nursing department, plumbing, electrical, automotive, the library, exercise room, dental; we’ve helped out quite a few different departments.”
The Adey family has raised over $180,000 over eight years, making them one of the school’s longest and most gracious donators.
An annual golf tournament is held by the Adeys on the Sunday before Father’s Day.
