The City of Prince George has officially opened a new seniors home in an effort to keep residents closer to their families.
After 20 months of construction, the RiverBend Seniors Community on 20th Avenue will house local seniors aging out of their current homes or who need extra assistance with their daily lives.

Wendy Harbord recently moved into the $30 million housing facility, and believes hospitality is important to all newcomers.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to be that supported; it was here for me, and it’s being part of a family that cares all the way from housekeeping to dining services. It doesn’t matter where it is or who it is, the staff is just exceptional here.”
RiverBend consists of one-or-two bedroom apartments, complete with a full kitchen, walk-in closet, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, and additional common areas within the building.

Harbord encourages families to check out the facility for those on the fence about moving into a new space.
“There’s something special about this place and I can’t believe it’s in Prince George. I thought this would be the most unlikely place that I would move back to that would have something for to meet my needs as I age.”
Mayor Lyn Hall and several city council members attended RiverBend’s ribbon-cutting, and says it’s a priority to provide more homes for seniors.
