Thefts from vehicles on the rise in Quesnel

A rash of thefts from vehicles in Quesnel has the RCMP warning the public.

Sargeant Chris Riddle says from October 9th until now there have been 24 reported thefts…

“These have occurred all over the City but the Uplands, the Racing Road area, as well as the Johnston and Carson subdivisions, have been the worst hit. What we’re seeing is a lot of people are leaving personal effects in their vehicles and also keys to the vehicle inside the vehicle.”

Riddle says thieves are opportunistic and they have no problem costing you a 500 dollar deductible to recover a quarter out of your car.

Riddle says another no-no is leaving personal identification in your vehicle which can lead to identity theft.
