Days after completing a tour of Highway 16 from Prince Rupert to Vanderhoof, Mike Bernier has decided to withdraw from running for the BC Liberal’s top position.
The MLA for Peace River-South was one of eight people in the hunt for the Leadership job.
Thanks everyone for your support – my statement on joining @Mike_de_Jong team as co-chair is available here – https://t.co/Tdbgc2PcEq

In a statement, Bernier says he’s fully supporting Mike de Jong’s candidacy, taking on a new role as his campaign co-chair.
“He believes what I believe, that we can create better lives for British Columbians and a better province. He has the financial track record that will build the prosperity we need to connect all British Columbians to the benefits that flow from a strong economy. He is going to defeat John Horgan and the NDP.”
The former Education Minister under Christy Clark adds he initially ran because he wanted to attract new Liberal supporters, and build a stronger party.
Bernier made the announcement alongside de Jong in Vancouver today.
Thank you @Mike_A_Bernier for your passion & dedication to BC – anyone who puts their name forward deserves our respect.
