The federal Green Party leader made her way through Northern BC’s capital Friday.
Elizabeth May spoke at the University of Northern BC, her speech was titled “Where does the Paris Agreement get us? Are we still in a climate emergency?”
“I was invited to be part of the Inspiring Women Among Us series and I was honoured to accept,” says May.
“I love the opportunity to speak with students across Canada.”
One main focus point of May’s presentation was the Paris Agreement and whether or not it is working.
She emphasized a lengthy personal history with talking climate and climate change, going back to the early 1990’s.

May explains what she has seen so far from the Paris Agreement.
“I am seeing levels of progress, it’s just a question of if we need to move faster, we need to ensure we move away from fossil fuels over the next couple of decades,” May explained before moving onto Northern BC’s role in the matter.
“There’s a lot for Northern BC in terms of moving to more renewable energy, storage of energy, any place there is an old mine pit is actually a battery to tore renewable energy.”
