Murry Krause out as UBCM president; Wendy Booth in

The Union of BC Municipalities have acclaimed a new president.

Wendy Booth, who served as First Vice President last year, will take over for now Past President Murry Krause.

“I think she’ll do a superb job,” explains Krause, who is also a councillor for the City of Prince George. “She’s very smart, she’s energetic, she’s very collaborative, she really understands rural British Columbia but certainly understands metro-Vancouver as well.”

Booth is a director in a Regional District of East Kootenay.

For Krause, he will stay on the Executive Board for the next year as Past President.

He will stay on the President’s Committee and a part of the leadership; that committee is generally the group who speaks with the Premier or Cabinet Ministers.

Krause is still waiting to hear what his committee responsibilities will be.

“I have all of this time on UBCM,” he explains. “I served as the Indigenous Committee Chair and Indigenous Relations Committee Chair, and I’m hoping I get that placement again.”

Krause will still serve on the UBCM Housing Committee that was formed in the summer.
