UPDATE: The people of Prince George donated enough food to fill at least ten police cars, and some donated cash or gift cards totalling $650. All donations have been provided to the Prince George Salvation Army to help those in need this Thanksgiving.
Prince George RCMP and Superstore teamed together on Saturday to hold a Cram-A-Cruiser event.
The goal was to have non-perishable food items donated to the Salvation Army in time for Thanksgiving.
“The reception was really great,” says PG RCMP’s Bev Livingstone. “Of course you’re going to get a few Negative Nellies but most of it was really good!
“I would say they got a good six or seven cruisers full of food.”
Livingstone goes on to say the people who give the most, usually are not the wealthiest.
“I think you find that a lot of people will give, but you’ll be surprised that the ones who have the least will give the most.”
The event took place at the Superstore on Ferry Avenue, near Highway 16, from 10am to 2pm.
Livingstone says she does think this will turn into an annual event, and that there are already talks into making that a reality.
