It’s been seven years since Springwood Elementary School shut down but now that it’s been reopened, some upgrades are needed to get it on par with other school in Prince George.
Tim Bennett, School District 57 Board Chair, says he is happy with the work that’s been done over the summer.
“Flooring was replaced, the roof was done, the gym was redone, the new playgrounds outside, parking lots, side-walks, there was a lot of renovation work needed to get done.”

Bennett also acknowledges there is still work to do.
“There’s some exterior painting, and smaller things that still need to be worked on.”
The district has been working with parents to ensure things go as smoothly as possible.

Bennett says more students are attending Springwood than originally projected.
“Springwood is a full school,” he explains. “More students are at the school which I think is great, and I think the community has rallied behind it.”
Students of the school are currently working on developing school colours and a mascot.
