Armed robbery suspect lands in jail

A local man spent the night in jail after a knife point robbery and police chase.

Prince George RCMP responded to the call of a robbery at the 800 block of Victoria St. around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim told police that the suspect wanted to meet and return their lost cellphone, but the suspect demanded a higher reward and when the victim refused, the suspect threatened him with a knife before fleeing the area.

Police say they arrested the suspect 45 minutes later at City Hall.

The 22 year-old Prince George man will appear in court Friday with recommended charges of: Extortion, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of Stolen Property.

The cellphone was returned to its rightful owner.
