The Director for Revenue Generation for the 2015 Canada Winter Games has stepped down.
The company confirms Todd Doherty is no longer with the games.
Games CEO Stu Ballantyne says Doherty has taken a new opportunity elsewhere, but with five months to game time, they are in fine financial shape.
“We sit at 98% funded towards our revised goal and, you know what? We’re quite comfortable with where we’re going to be and that we’re going to make our numbers, well before the games,” Ballantyne says.
“It’s always a surprise when you lose a team member,” he says. “But this is his decision and clearly one he’s thought long and hart about.”
Ballantyne says Doherty will not be replaced.
Doherty recently made his intentions public that he was eyeing a federal Conservative seat, should the current MP, Dick Harris, not seek re-election.
However at this point, Harris has not announced his retirement.
