MLA Bond ‘disappointed’ Clark’s stepping down, proud of her work

Liberal MLA’s are still reacting to news that Christy Clark is stepping down from her role as party leader.

Local MLA Shirley Bond says she’s thankful for everything Clark has done.

“I’m very, deeply disappointed that Christy has made a personal decision to move onto the next phase of her life. We’re very proud of the work that she has done.

“She’s worked very hard to restore this province to its place in the country as an economic leader and I think that Christy wanted to position us for the best possible opportunity to return to a position of government in the province.”

Langley East MLA Rich Coleman will take over as interim leader. Bond adds that she has no plans to become the next party head.

“I’m a long time MLA who loves where she lives. I’m a grandmother. I have had the incredible opportunity to serve the people of Northern British Columbia and the province of British Columbia. It’s not my intention to seek the leadership.”

Bond says she and Clark will continue being close, personal friends.
