The Cops for Cancer ‘Tour de North’ departed this morning from the Canadian Tire parking lot in Prince George.
The event featured a free pancake breakfast and a large contingent of supporters to see the riders off on their journey.
This is the second year for Fort Saint John’s Constable Brad van Dyke;
“Today we are starting in Prince George and we are going to spend the next six days travelling to Prince Rupert.” Said Brad “We are going to be stopping at schools and different communities promoting what Cops for Cancer is all about, spreading awareness and letting people know where the money is going towards.”
Money raised goes to paediatric cancer research and Camp Good Times. Constable van Dyke described Camp Good Times;
“It’s a place for families and children to go, that are going through this extremely difficult time, where they can just be kids and be family together and not have to worry about all these medical appointments and worry about what they are going through.”
The Tour de North is scheduled to arrive in Prince Rupert on September 18th.
