Northern Health sees eight evacuee babies

In case being evacuated wasn’t stressful enough, Northern Health reports eight women have given birth while away from home.

When the Cariboo communities were evacuated, Interior Health gave the local health authority a list of women who were expecting and where they’d be staying. Many of these women have been connected with local physicians in their temporary communities.

Communications Officer Eryn Collins adds Northern Health is doing everything to ensure a smooth delivery in this difficult time.

“If there are expecting women in the evacuated community in Prince George or any of our other Northern Health communities right now, we’re just ready to welcome them and help them welcome their new member of their family.”

Of the now 9,500 evacuees in Prince George, about 1,800 of them are children.
