The Prince George Crisis and Intervention Centre is holding a symposium in honor of World Suicide Prevention day.
Program coordinator Sandra Boulianne says the day is about awareness and showing people that there is always a way out:
“Every year almost one million people die from suicide and that roughly corresponds to one death every forty seconds, and that is a real tragedy. So what we’re hoping to do today is get together as a community and talk about suicide just to increase awareness and prevention”
She also added that most people are probably not wanting to end their lives, but are simply trying to end the pain.
Boulianne encourages everyone to come out to the free symposium which runs from 1 to 4 pm at the Native Friendship Centre.
