Yoga in the Park revitalizing bodies, generosity

Local residents walking through Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park this summer will be hearing soothing music… and a few more ‘ohmms.’

Chinook Yoga is hosting its fifth annual Free Yoga in the Park event, which takes place by the Bandshell every Sunday morning from 10AM to 11AM.

Founder Carla Wainwright says she sees nearly 100 people bring their mats, water bottles, as well as their families each session.

She also believes the environment creates a unique setting.

“We don’t get a lot of good weather in Prince George or it’s very condensed. So, any chance people have to be outside is a great opportunity. I think it’s also really a great community building opportunity as well; people just like to get together, have conversations, and just practice together.”

She adds participants have a chance to stretch, flex, and revitalize generosity as well as the body.

“Something we’re doing for the first time is that we’ve partnered with a different local charity each Sunday. Each teacher will be bringing a representative from a different charity just to really support our amazing community.”

Yoga in the Park will run each week until Sunday, August 27th.
