The UNBC Timberwolves began their CIS soccer season with a split in men’s action and a pair of ties in women’s play against the visiting UBC Okanagan Heat. The UNBC men lost the opener 2-0 (Saturday) but came back with a 2-1 win (Sunday) while the Lady Timberwolves tied UBCO 0-0 (Saturday) and 1-1 (Sunday). Sidney Roy scored in extra time for the Lady T-wolves. The UNBC men got goals from Francesco Bartolillo and Tofa Fakunle. The UNBC soccer teams will continue league play Saturday and Sunday afternoon in Vancouver against the UBC Thunderbirds.

–The Prince George Cougars won both of their home pre-season games against the Edmonton Oil Kings: 5-3 (Friday) followed by 4-2 (Saturday). The Cougars sat out most of their top players in the Saturday game. With an exhibition record of 3-0-1, the Cats play their final pre-season game Friday in Kamloops. The Blazers are 3-1 in exhibition play.
–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars went 3-0-1 in four exhibition games in Kelowna. The Cougars beat Okanagan Hockey Academy Red 3-1, the Vancouver NE Chiefs 5-2 and the Thompson Blazers 9-3 before concluding with a 3-3 tie against the Burnaby Winter Club.
–The Kelly Roadrunners beat the College Heights Cougars 26-17 in exhibition high school
football that was played at Masich Place Stadium.
