The BC Teachers’ Federation is proposing binding arbitration to end it’s fight with the provincial government and get kids back into the classrooms.
President Jim Iker hopes it will bring an immediate end do their dispute with the BC government.
the President of the Prince George and District Teachers’ Association is pleased with Iker’s announcement this morning.
Tina Cousins is hopeful for anything that will get a deal done as soon as possible.
“We think that this is a simple approach that needs to be considered by our government,” she says. “The BCTF has put a move on the table and now it’s up to the government to help to resolve this dispute as well and reach a fair settlement with us.”
Cousins says it is a risk, but any option must be considered.
“At this point in time, we’re out on the picket lines and there has been no movement, so of course there’s going to be a risk, but I think right now we need to find a way through,” Cousins says.
