Some stable numbers on unemployment to report for August.
StatsCan says the national jobless rate is sitting at 7%, essentially the same place it was at this time, last year.
Analyst Vincent Ferrao says Prince George’s jobless rate is 4.6%, dropping 1% over the last year.
“There are more people working in health care and social assistance,” he says. “There’s [another] category, [called] ‘other services’ which includes personal and household services, repairs, maintenance, that also went up.”
According to StatsCan’s figures, over 48,000 people in Prince George as of August 2013, while last month it was recorded that over 52,000 people were working.
Ferrao says the provincial unemployment rate also fell 0.5% to 6.1%.
