At a presentation in the village today, Mayor Chris Beach says the project was made possible through the cooperation of all the communities.
“It was important that PG was a part of it because their contribution was instrumental in making this happen. A lot of people have to go to Prince George or Smithers for different government services or to visit family.” says Beach.
“We deserve access to the same type of service as in larger centres, and now, we got a BC Transit Service bus, and we can be safe and people can afford it.”
Buses will run three days a week from Burns Lake to both Smithers and PG costing $5 a fare.
The new service is part of the $6.4 million Highway 16 Transportation Action Plan.
