City Council has unanimously withdrawn its support for the proposed BC Transit facility at 18th and Foothills.
The city announced in March it would build a new hub with a washing station, fuel pump, garage, and an eco-friendly bus fleet.
But many residents opposed the location, citing impacts to local green space, extra traffic near the soccer fields, and noise and air pollution.
More than 200 residents attended an open house in May to speak their minds; Susanne Williamson started a petition opposing the spot – and gathered over 4,000 signatures.
She’s happy that Council paid attention.
“They listened to what people were telling them. I think they’ve absolutely done their job.”
Councilors are also pleased residents were engaged.
“I’m really proud of the citizens of Prince George for speaking up and getting involved.” – Councillor Susan Scott.
City Staff and BC Transit are now looking for a new location.
