Initiatives Prince George launches new national marketing campaign

MLA Mike Morris and Mayor Shari Green were on hand at the Initiative Prince George building today when the IPG unveiled a new national marketing campaign for the City of Prince George.

The campaign, called “Move up Prince George” hopes to attract new residents and link them with employers by encouraging people across the country to “Move Up” in their career and “Move Up” to home ownership.

IPG CEO Heather Olande says with unemployment in PG sitting well below 6 percent, they want to attract people from all sectors of the workforce;

“There are employment opportunities across all sectors of the economy, so certainly looking at everything from retail and hospitality to trades people to professional services, the whole nine yards”

The first phase of the campaign will target people in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Windsor and Edmonton. Olande says they will appeal to people of all ages;

“Messages for young people may be home ownership, it may be career opportunity. Some of the messages for an older demographic in their 30s and 40s might be about not being stuck in traffic, about more time for family, about being able to save for their kids education because they aren’t spend all their money on their mortgage”

The centrepiece of the campaign; www.MoveUpPrinceGeorge.ca aggregates Prince George job postings, highlights neighbourhoods and provides resources for potential residents.
