Annual Torch Run Supports Special Olympics

 

PG RCMP swapped red serge for gym shorts to take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Officers, sheriffs, firefighters, and local athletes ran a 3.5 kilometer downtown track and raised $5,700 for Special Olympics BC

 

“We do it so athletes who don’t enjoy the same privileges that we do each and every day have the opportunity to compete at a level that is appropriate throughout the province and internationally.” – PG RCMP Superintendent Warren Brown

The funds raised help athletes, like Donny Issasc, with uniform, equipment, facility rental, and travel costs

Since 1981, the Torch Run has raised over $600 million for Special Olympics around the world That includes more than $3 million for over 4,600 BC athletes since 1990
