It was a bad night to be a Prince George Senior Lacrosse goaltender on Monday.
The goals came early and often at Kin 1 as the RPR Mechanical/BX Pub Bandits outscored the Co-op Petroleum Stylers 17-11.
The offensive barrage started in the opening period when Lucas Blinkhorn took advantage of a Jesse Huffman feed for an early 1-0 advantage.
Drew Doig doubled the Bandits lead completing a three-way scoring play from Trevor Clark and Taylor Attree.
Matt Rochon later cut the deficit in half putting home a Mike Bayley feed making it a 2-1 game.
Huffman got into the scoring fracas tucking home a feed from Cole Paciejewski extending the Bandits lead once again.
The Stylers continued to battle in the first courtesy of a Douglas Porter goal, which was set up by Rochon putting the deficit back to one.
Paciejewski completed his first-period hat-trick with two consecutive goals lighting the lamp against Stylers netminder Kyle Frederick who allowed 17 on the evening.
Right on cue, Rochon and Danton Nicholson joined the offensive onslaught keeping it close at 5-4.
The Bandits finished off the frame on a 3-1 run with goals from Doig, Brett Doig and Blinkhorn for an 8-5 score after 20 minutes.
In the second, Paciejewski potted his fourth of the contest from D. Doig and Attree giving the Bandits their first four-goal lead of the contest.
Doig and Huffman zipped home two more apiece in the middle frame followed by another from Paciejewski and Justin Parker.
Nicholson, Porter, and Brandon Daychief replied for the Stylers who ended up trailing 15-8 after two periods.
Both teams took a breath in the third with the goals not coming at a torrid pace, unlike the first two frames.
Paciewjewski ended up with his sixth goal of the game followed by Parker’s second.
Nicholson completed his hat-trick for the Stylers in the final period, while his teammate Rochon padded his stats with two more goals.
The trio of Huffman, Doig, and Paciejewski combined for 28 points.
Huffman says communication was key against a formidable opponent. “We try and move the ball and get everyone involved and when we cycle the ball like that, work on our outside shots it trickles through and everyone gets looks.”
Huffman also shared his thoughts on playing with Paciejewski. “Cole is a workhorse. You can give him the opportunity to get open and he gets there. He makes last second shots and when nothing else is working it makes things a little bit easier for everyone.”
Six players from the Stylers ended with multi-point games in defeat.
