The nays have it.
Kitimat residents have voted 58.4 percent in favour of not supporting Enbridge’s Northern Gateway pipeline project. 41.6 percent were in favour of letting the company build a pipeline and refinery in the area. Mayor Joanne Monaghan says she’s not surprised with the 60-40 split.
Unofficial results have 3,071 total ballots cast in the non-binding plebiscite. Kitimat Council will now look at the results of the vote at their council meeting tomorrow night.
