Three Prince George Spruce Capital boxers have been confirmed to fight on a professional card Friday September 12th in Edmonton. 24-year-old Marcus Hume will make his pro debut in the 135 pound lightweight division in a scheduled four rounder against 2-0 Mike McWilliams of Ontario. 23-year-old Thomas Spiers, who had a draw in his first pro fight, and 46-year-old Todd Hatley, will also step into the ring. The three are coached by Wayne Sponagle.

–The P.G. Cougars are carrying 35 players (four goalies, 13 defencemen and 18 forwards) as they get set for pre-season games this weekend in St Albert. The Cougars face Red Deer Saturday (10:30am) and Medicine Hat Sunday (10:30am). The Cats host (defending Memorial Cup champion) Edmonton in pre-season play September 5th and 6th.
–The PG Spruce Kings will start their training camp Friday at the P.G. Coliseum. About 40 players will attend.
The Spruce Kings, who expect a dozen veterans in their lineup this season, hold Intra-squad White vs. Blue games Friday and Saturday and Sunday at 10am.
–The Cariboo Cougars hold their main training camp at CN Centre beginning Friday.
–The UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team will play Mount Royal in a pre-season game today in Calgary. The UNBC men host TRU in exhibition games Saturday and Sunday at 2 at Rotary.
–The UNBC women’s soccer team wraps up its pre-season schedule with road games Saturday and Sunday vs. TRU in Kamloops.
