PG Cougars introduce new electronic 50/50 system

The PG Cougars will be unveiling a new 50/50 system in time for the season opener.

Team President Greg Pocock says the Pointstreak 50/50 system uses real-time data to tell fans where the jackpot is at.

“It will be displayed at multiple locations on the concourse, at our ticket sales kiosk, and certainly on the score clock,” he says. “It just lets people have a sense for momentum and where it’s going and it really is an exciting thing.”

He says the Cougar’s 50/50 Society raises funds to support charities like PG minor hockey, the hospice society, Child Find, and numerous others.

He says he has found the Pointstreak 50/50 system in arenas all over Canada and the United States.

“Many of the big rinks have it,” he notes. “I was just at an event in Edmonton where they had a jackpot total that approached $380,000, it was national news, on TSN coverage, it was really exciting.”

Pocock is also excited for this weekend’s open training camp at CN Centre.

Over 100 players are participating.
