Quick rescue for hiker thanks to GPS

A local hiker is recovering after an injury out at Grizzly Den Provincial Park, Thursday.

Around 11:30 in the morning, police received a GPS locator distress activation near Viking Peak.

Search and Rescue were called in and found the injured hiker near Raven Lake, a 72 year old Prince George woman, along with three others around 4:30 that afternoon.

She was airlifted to University Hospital.

Corporal Craig Douglass is thankful the hikers had GPS on them, noting they would have spent at least a night in the cold without quick treatment.
