Meanwhile the wildfire situation that had people on edge in Houston, Burns Lake, and even Fort Saint James has calmed down significantly.
Chair Bill Miller with the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako says the China Nose fire is 45% contained.
“It’s significantly better and they’ve made major steps toward getting a wet fire guard around the outside perimeter,” he says. “Things are certainly cooling down from our standpoint.”
He says the evacuation alert near Fort Saint James has been called off as the Chuchi Lake fire has reduced significantly in size.
However the China Nose evacuation alert that is in place for an area between Houston and Burns Lake is still in effect for the time being.
