As the teacher’s union and the province continues their dispute, the latest letter from the school employer’s association has teacher’s outraged.
The province says the lockout is over for the rest of the summer so that teachers can voluntarily get their classrooms in order during their strike.
Vice President Richard Giroday of the PG Teacher’s Association says that’s not the message they heard.
“It doesn’t say the lockout is over, it states the lockout has been lifted for two things,” he says. “One is professional development activity, so if they’re giving the impression that the lockout has been lifted, I’d be very concerned about that.”
Giroday says the lockout is only temporarily over with the likelihood it will return before school resumes in September.
