UNBC & accounting firms in PG react to Heartbleed bug

heartbleed

An online bug has forced Canada Revenue Agency and other government websites to shut down their online presence until a fix can be found.

Crystal Livingstone is owner of Flagship Accounting and says effects of the Heartbleed Bug are even being felt in Prince George.

UNBC’s IT Security Manager, Dave Kubert says critical systems that were susceptible to the bug have had their public access restricted.

While he recommends changing your social media and banking passwords, Kubert says there won’t be much point until the bug is fixed.

Kubert also stresses using the same password for everything is a bad idea.

The CRA says there won’t be a punishment for anyone filing their taxes late.

He says it is the most serious bug he’s ever seen.
