A new housing report for Prince George shows a slight decline for new homes in the city, but experts say numbers are stable.
According to the Canada MortgageĀ and Housing Corporation, since January, 69 new homes were built, down from 118 this time, last year.
Out of those, 62 were single while only 7 were multiple-unit buildings.
Senior MortgageĀ Analyst Serena Teakles says this isn’t unusual,” Prince George has traditionally been a more single-family type of community,” she says. “One reason that they’re able to keep that single-family home aspect is as a dominate housing type is because of the availability of land but it also has to do with the house price-point, it’s not as high as some other areas across the province.”
She says in the near future, Prince George will be entering into a sellers’ market.
