One year in, and the ancient forest’s universal boardwalk is being hailed as a huge success.
President of the Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Club, Nowell Senior is one of the people behind the 64,000 volunteer hours that went into making it.
He says he’s overwhelmed by the response he’s gotten from people who have used the boardwalk to experience the forest.
“It’s just a marvelous thing to see people out there,” he says. “People recovering from knee operations, hip surgeries, people in wheelchairs, walkers, and elderly people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to see the forest.”
Senior says the universal boardwalk has attracted greater number of visitors from all over the world to the ancient forest and now his team is working on a raised platform around the entire forest to protect its natural trail.
