A smoke advisory is on for Prince George and the surrounding area due to nearby forest fires.
The Ministry of Environment says smoke concentrations are expected to change as winds and temperatures vary.
As with all air advisories, Northern Health warns people with medical and  respiratory conditions should avoid strenuous exercise outdoors. Obvious symptoms include throat, eye, or chest discomfort, a shortness of breath, or persistent cough.
The City of Prince George’s Clean Air Bylaw prohibits all open burning, including backyard burning and land clearing burning. During advisories recreational fires and street sweeping activities are prohibited. They ask industry to reduce emissions wherever possible during the air quality advisory.
