Prince George fire crews battle a third blaze on Tuesday

When they thought their day was over, the Prince George Fire Rescue got a call of a third fire Tuesday evening.

Just before 9PM, 12 firefighters from three different halls responded to a structure fire from the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue.

The blaze was believed to be isolated to the rear basement stairwell at the vacant apartment building and after a search was conducted, crews found no occupants inside the building.

In a statement from Assistant Chief Denis Poulin, crews stayed at the scene for nearly 90 minutes looking for any fire extension; they are now treating the incident as suspicious.

No injuries were reported to any firefighters; damages are estimated to be around $20,000.

This was the third fire in Prince George within 10 hours.
