PG sees unprecedented growth in building permits

City Council is applauding the growth of building and development permits in Prince George.
At Wednesday night’s meeting, council received a report on various projects around the city, noting almost $140 million in development in three years.
Councillor Albert Kohler says he has never seen this level of growth in the city.
“It speaks for itself,” Kohler says. “Which means things are happening, it means that individuals and companies from outside are coming to us and investing, that really is a good sign. We will probably see more of than in the near future, I’m confident of that.”
As the growth comes, Kohler would also like to see the downtown core revitalized. “I would like to see life downtown, we don’t have that,” he says. “Past 6 o’clock, downtown is empty and dark and there’s no life, we have to change that, it’s not easy, but I think it will happen.”
The month of June alone saw 12 permits granted to single family dwellings, along with 12 other improvement projects to residences and business around the city.
