Lakeland Mills is responding to Tuesday’s announcement over stiff Worksafe BC fines.
Their PR officer Cam McAlpine says a full statement is still pending, but so far, would say that after receiving yesterday’s notice that the company would be fined over $724,000 for the 2012 explosion that destroyed the mill, injured dozens of workers and killed two, the company would take some time to review the information before responding to Worksafe’s allegation.
Worksafe would also not comment further beyond their public statement that the fines stem from violations of the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
Lakeland has 90 days from Tuesday to file an appeal.
